Actually, her name isn't Beth. It's Ella, naturally. Lady Lorn calls her Beth because the last scullery maid was named Beth and she can't be bothered to tell them apart, not when there are much more important things to be kept track of. The Newtons' dinner party was the height of elegance and she is determined to outshine them.
